Laurence Follows

My life’s work has been about helping people discover their authentic voice, lead with confidence, and fully express who they are, whether on stage, in business, or in life.
 
I began my career as an actor, working in professional theatre, film, and television. Growing up in a family of highly accomplished actors, I developed an early passion for performance and storytelling. Determined to receive the finest theatrical training available, I auditioned for both Canada’s National Theatre School and The Juilliard School in New York and was accepted into both. I chose to study at Juilliard’s Drama Division under the direction of Michael Langham, where I developed the discipline, presence, and communication skills that continue to shape my work today.
 
Following graduation, I joined the Juilliard Professional Company before embarking on a successful career as an actor, director, and producer. I later founded Follows-Latimer Productions, one of Canada’s most successful commercial theatre companies, helping launch what is now Toronto’s Mirvish CAA Theatre.
 
Today, I bring the lessons learned throughout my career in theatre into my work as a Transformational Leadership Coach, facilitator, and communications expert. For decades, I have coached entrepreneurs, executives, professionals, educators, students, and performers to break through limiting beliefs, elevate their leadership, communicate with greater authenticity, and create meaningful results.
 
My approach is built on a simple belief: true leadership begins with self-awareness. When people discover who they truly are beneath the roles they play, they become more powerful leaders, communicators, collaborators, and human beings.
 
Through The Practise, a three-level experiential leadership and personal development program, I guide individuals and organizations in developing greater self-awareness, emotional intelligence, communication, and purposeful action. The result is stronger leaders, healthier relationships, and teams that move from intention to meaningful impact.
 
In addition to my coaching practice, I have served on the faculty at the University of Toronto Mississauga and Sheridan College, mentoring the next generation of artists, leaders, communicators, and performers.
 
My purpose is to create a world of full self-expression, where every person comes fully to life, plays wholeheartedly, and gives everything they’ve got.
